"i love god. i use to be a cristian . i want to serve him again ,but i have done so much is there hope for me? iam in so much turmoil. i need him but i feel like he is far away from me

Our Answer ...

Hi ________,

Yes there is hope and help.

Unfortunately many churches and preachers make it seem like you can just sin too much and God just gives up on you.  The truth is Jesus said, "I will never leave you or forsake you."  That doesn't mean it is okay to sin then run to God to ask him to forgive you, then go back and sin again.

Repentance is a real part of genuine salvation.  Repentance means to turn around and go the other direction.  God's forgiveness is released through repentance.  Genuine heartfelt sorrow for sin and a desire to change.  We can be sorry because we got caught in our sin or because our sin brought us consequences, but not really be sorry for the sin.  Repentance is not about getting out of the consequences of sin it is about getting out of sin.

Another big problem with a lot of preaching is that they make our sin bigger and more powerful than God's grace.  Romans 7:1 tells us, "Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound."  God's love is greater then our failures.  Again that doesn't mean we can just sin when we want, it means that for people like you who have, "done so much," there is more grace then the sun of your sins.

The fact that you are burdened and troubles means that God is working in your life, just as He promised to do.  You should take heart in this, because if you truly had sinned to much, you would not be concerned at all and would not feel the drawing of the Lord.

So the solution is to take God at His word.  That is what faith is all about. Here are three scriptures I want you to pray about and then act on.

Jer 3:22 "Return, ye backsliding children, and I will your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.

Hos 14:4 "I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him."

In both of these scriptures God says HE will heal the backsliddings.  Your job is not to fix and correct everything.  You responsibility is to RETURN.  Come back to God with your whole heart and trsut Him to forgive and heal you from your sin.  The healing of our backsliddings refers to both the results of your sin and the power of your sin.  God can break the bondages of the past and cause you to walk in new life in the Spirit of God.

The other scripture is I John 1:9  "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Here we find forgiveness and cleansing.  Notice again it is not your job to cleanse Yourself, it is your responsibility to confess your sins.  Confession simple means you admit what you did was wrong - no excuses, no blaming someone else, just humble confession to God, repentance from them and a desire to be right with God.  On those conditions God both forgives and cleanses.  To cleanse means the dirt and stain of sin is gone.  You are restored to right relationship with God and can start again fresh and new.

One other things is needed.  You must receive that forgiveness in faith.  Believing that God did forgive you.  Your emotions may respond immediately, or it may take some time for you conscience to reset and quit accusing you.  However, God forgives in the spirit realm and you must accept that when you fulfill His conditions (confess, repent, receive and then walk in forgiveness.)

I want to assure you that God will forgive you and restore you.  You need to purpose in your heart to take the steps to re-establish your Christian life.  Go to church, read your bible, pray and fellowship with other Christians.  If you do not do these things you will slip back into sin again.

Please write back and let me know what has happened in your life.

Dear Jesus,

I bring _______ to you right now.  I ask that you forgive and cleanse her as she returns to you.  Your word and promise are more powerful then her sin.  Where her sins abounded, your grace does much abound.  Lord grant her a release in her spirit and in her heart to know you've forgiven and restored.  I rebuke the devil who would lie to her and condemn her.  You have shed your blood for her forgiveness and there is nothing the devil can do to stop it.  Lord re-establish her walk with you.  Fulfill your plans and purposes in her life.  Set her free to serve you and only you, in Jesus' Name.  Amen!

________, Please write back and let me know what has happened in your life.
